JACKSON OUT TO IMPRESS

22 March 2017

Striker away with Canada on international duty...

Simeon Jackson is hoping to seize his opportunity when Canada take on Scotland in an international friendly at Easter Road tonight.

The 29-year-old has been capped 48 times by his country and is one of four Saddlers players currently away on international duty.

With the CONCACAF Gold Cup just around the corner – and a new boss at the helm in Octavio Zambrano - Jackson is eager to make his mark this evening.

“It’s a chance to impress, as it always is when there is a new manager, and I have to make sure I make the most of the opportunity,” said Jackson.

“Playing against Scotland will be a good event for us and after that the focus will be on the Gold Cup in the summer.

“We’ll be naming a 23-man squad for that so I have to make sure I play well from now until the end of the season to stay in contention.”

Neil Etheridge, Liam Kinsella and Andreas Makris are also on international duty, with the Philippines, Republic of Ireland U21s and Cyprus respectively.

Maz Kouhyar has not linked up with Afghanistan, instead staying here to continue his rehabilitation from a knee injury.
