Raising money for three notables causes...
Five Bradford fans are set to embark on a 100-mile walk from Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium to City’s Valley Parade in aid of charity.Experienced hiker Craig Dignam will be joined by his brother Paul and nephews Paul Dignam, Bobby Prince and Danny O’Connor on the mammoth journey.
They will set off tomorrow morning with the aim of reaching Bradford’s ground by 2:30pm on Saturday – in time for the Saddlers’ League One match with the Bantams.
Their efforts are in aid of three notable causes - The Burns Unit appeal, Cancer Research UK and St John’s Hospice Lancaster, in memory of Craig’s late father.
They will be ably assisted by Craig’s wife Nicky, who will be driving the safety vehicle and providing admin support.
“We all take things for granted and this is all about giving something back,” said Craig, 51, from Warmington.
“My nephew Paul suggested doing a charity walk again this year. It would have been my dad’s birthday on 4th April and it just coincided that Walsall’s fixture with Bradford was on 1st April which is very close by.
“It’s a lovely route from here through to the Peak District and Bradford will be letting us finish the walk on their pitch. It’ll be great to stand there in front of 15-16,000 supporters.
“But it’s all about the charities. Cancer affects us all - it doesn't matter what team they support - and this is about us giving back.
"If people can donate what they can, then that would make a big difference."
Craig was keen to thank the club for our support, as well as the Park Inn by Radisson hotel next to the Banks’s Stadium.
