Mariners to visit the Banks's on Tuesday 30th August for 7:45 kick-off
THE club can confirm that our EFL Trophy fixture with Grimsby Town will take place on Tuesday 30th August, 7:45pm kick-off.The Saddlers were drawn in Group H of the competition along with Leicester City, Sheffield United and Grimsby Town in what is a new look tournament.
In its new format, the EFL Trophy will see 16 groups of 4 (48 League One and Two sides, 16 Category One Academies) in which the teams will play each other once with the top two teams from each group moving on to a knockout stage.
Clubs will be awarded 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw. In the event of a drawn game (after 90 minutes), a penalty shootout will be held with the winning team earning an additional point.
If scores are level after 90 minutes in Rounds 2, 3 and 4, the game will be determined by the taking of penalties.
The EFL will confirm arrangements for the Semi-Finals and Final in due course.
