Saddlers look to tame The Shrews...

THE SADDLERS go into Saturday's local derby with Shrewsbury Town in upbeat mood following Tuesday's excellent 3-0 victory at Carlisle United.

Manager, Dean Smith has no new injury concerns ahead of the game. Richard Taundry and Ben Purkiss have resumed training at the end of this week as they recover from their respective ankle and hamstring injuries.

James Chambers returned at Brunton Park having missed the previous game with an ankle problem and he put in an impressive performance, which saw him win our penalty within the opening couple of minutes.

Having notched his first senior hat-trick in the last game, Will Grigg goes into the game full of confidence and determined to add to his tally, which now stands at 14.

On-loan goalkeeper, Aaron McCarey has kept consecutive clean sheets since returning from Wolves.

Shrewsbury Town go into the game in 17th place in the table with three wins from their 17 away League games, including an excellent 2-0 success at high-flying Tranmere Rovers in their last game on the road.

Experienced manager, Graham Turner has been given a pre-match boost with the news that David McAllister's red card, which he received on Tuesday evening, has been rescinded and he will be available for selection.

Jermaine Grandison (hip) and former Saddler, Mark Wright (knee) remain sidelined, whilst Jon Taylor is back in contention after a recent groin injury.

The Shrews fell to a last-gasp defeat at home to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday having scored a late equaliser with ten men. Their previous two games had seen them beat Stevenage and also win at Tranmere.

Former Walsall midfielder, Matt Richards has been a key figure in the midfield since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2011, whilst goalkeeper, Chris Weale was the difference in our game at the Greenhous Meadow back in October, where in front of the live television cameras, we dominated possession but fell to a 1-0 reverse.

If you are unable to make it along to the game, fear not as Saddlers Player will be broadcasting live, full match commentary...
