Saddlers start 2013 at home...

THE SADDLERS begin 2013 with a home game as we entertain Stevenage on New Year's Day (kick-off 3.00pm).

Manager, Dean Smith will be without in-form striker, Febian Brandy who is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Leyton Orient on Saturday.

Defender, Dean Holden is laid low with an ankle injury that he picked up in training towards the end of last week and meant that his place on the substitutes' bench was taken by James Chambers for the trip to the Matchroom Stadium.

Nicky Featherstone has shaken off an ankle problem of his own and could be back in contention, whilst fellow midfielder, Flo Cuvelier is pushing for a starting place having come off the bench in each of the last three games over the festive period.

The last game saw loanee, Sam Mantom open his scoring account for the season with a wonder-strike and he will be looking to add to that.

Stevenage go into the game in tenth position in the League One table and have a fine record of seven wins from their 11 away League games so far.

Their last game was postponed, so this will be their first action since the Boxing Day home reverse at the hands of Coventry City.

Filipe Morais was back from injury to figure in the last game and came through it with no adverse reaction.

Meanwhile Jon Ashton is battling to overcome an Achilles problem.

Former Saddlers' loanee, Robin Shroot is a key member of the Stevenage side and scored in their 3-1 victory over The Saddlers back in September.
