PATERSON PLOTS DEMISE OF HOME CLUB

6 December 2012

Coventry lad looking to help Saddlers to victory...

JAMIE Paterson is looking forward to Saturday's visit to the Ricoh Arena more than most as he attempts  to play his part in the downfall of the club he has supported since childhood.

The talented wide-man will come up against his hometown team for the first time in his professional career. "I've supported Coventry all my life so this is a massive game for me personally," he said. "I've been looking forward to this one ever since the fixtures came out and hopefully I can help Walsall go there an get a victory.

"I had a season-ticket at the club from a very early age. All of my family and friends support the club and I have some fond memories of watching Cov in the Premier League against the big clubs. The atmosphere at Highfield Road was always really good and I watched some decent games there in the past.

"The Ricoh Arena has a big pitch which will benefit us and help with the possession game that we like to play. It's a nice stadium and I'd like to think that there will be a big following from Walsall and they will really get behind us.

"Hopefully we can benefit from not having a game last weekend. It was nice to be able to refresh both physically and mentally, especially as we have a busy schedule of matches coming up.

"We've all got it in us to cope with the festive demands; there are a lot of points up for grabs and we will be looking to find the consistency that will see us start to move up the table again."

So, the script is written for Paterson to pop up with the winner and condemn himself to a Saturday evening of lying low. "I don't know how I would react if I scored," he pondered. "Hopefully the script is written for me to go there and play my part in a Walsall win. I don't want to jinx anything, but I have a positive feeling about this!"
